Harvard Commencement Speaker

Harvard Commencement Speaker March 4, 2013 As graduation season nears, we always love to report on who is giving a commencement address at which prestigious university. It seems Harvard University has scored a major coup this year as this years Harvard commencement speaker will be none other than Oprah Winfrey. The celebrated talk show host turned leader of the fledgling OWN network (which started off really poorly in the ratings but seems to have turned a bit of a corner with the Lance Armstrong interview and with upcoming Tyler Perry programming) will share her experiences with the Class of 2013 in Cambridge. If you havent already, hear her remarks to a Stanford graduating class here: Said Drew Faust, the president of Harvard University, in a statement to The Harvard Gazette, â€Å"Oprah’s journey from her grandmother’s Mississippi farm to becoming one of the world’s most admired women is one of the great American success stories. She has used her extraordinary influence and reach as a force for good in the world, with a constant focus on the importance of educational opportunity and the virtues of serving others.† As you may recall, Oprah gave a rousing commencement speech just a few years ago (back in 2008) at Stanford University as Oprahs best friend Gayle Kings daughter was a member of that graduating class. Harvards commencement ceremony will take place on May 30, 2013. We have a feeling this is going to be one of the better speeches of the commencement season.
